About Heather

“I became a doula after the birth of my fourth child at home with midwives. This transformative experience drew me into the field of labour and breastfeeding support as a certified doula”

Doulas are passionate about supporting families through the incredible transition of childbirth. Whether you plan a homebirth or a hospital birth, with a physician or a midwife, the support of a doula will help make your journey more thoughtful, informed and confident.

Heather Minielly is a certified doula and breastfeeding counsellor. She received her doula certification through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association) and is an active member of CAPPA Canada, DONA, and the Canadian Doula Association. She has been working in the perinatal field and attending birthing families since 2001. She also brings over 20 years of mothering experience to her practice from raising her own four children.

As a Labour Doula, Heather is experienced in both the homebirth and hospital settings. She has worked alongside physicians, midwives, labour and delivery nurses, public health nurses and other perinatal professionals in the community to help families maintain a web of support in their journey as new parents.

Heather has provided breastfeeding support to many families in the Greater Victoria area. She is passionate about breastfeeding and helping both first time moms and experienced moms with any difficulties they might encounter in the privacy of their own home.

Heather continues to build on her perinatal skills by attending seminars and meetings regularly in the community and away.
